The Shasta-Trinity National Forest, the largest in California, is a land of breathtaking beauty and a place for everyone to enjoy the great outdoors. The forest is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts providing an abundance of recreational opportunities. Some of the most outstanding attractions include: Mt. Shasta – the upper slopes of this snow-capped, dormant volcano rises to 14,179 feet and is designated as a wilderness area. Shasta Lake & Trinity Lake are paradise for boaters, with outstanding houseboating, waterskiing, fishing, and miles of secluded shoreline. Castle Crags Wilderness is dominated by spectacular sheer granite cliffs and spires that reach over 7,000 feet. Trinity Alps Wilderness glacially-chiseled peaks, with gem-like lakes at their bases, rival the beauty of the European Alps. Trinity Heritage Scenic Byway follows the path of 19th century gold miners and settlers, and offers scenic views, jagged cliffs, and dramatic vistas.
