Located on the Sacramento River is the Sundial Bridge. Redding commissioned world famous Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava (architect for the Athens Olympic Stadium) to design a pedestrian bridge over the Sacramento River, linking the Turtle Bay Exploration Park’s museum, to its Arboretum and Gardens, and as a trailhead for Redding’s extensive Sacramento River National Recreation  trail. The open-beam structure provides an appealing space with different species of wood from the area. The museum contains exhibits on lumbering, forestry, principles of sustainability, and Collins history. Outside the building is a viewing path with trucks and equipment that were used by Collins Pine Company in the 1940s - 1960s. The museum is open mid-May to mid-October, Wednesday - Saturday, 9:00am - 5:00pm, and there is no charge for visiting.
