The California Welcome Center will not be selling Christmas Tree Permits for 2024.

Shasta-Trinity National Forest:
Christmas Tree Permits for Shasta-Trinity National Forest go on sale November 1 and are valid through December 31. A permit costs $10.00. Each household may cut only one tree. The Shasta-Trinity is not issuing permits for the Lassen National Forest.

Online: Permits may be purchased online at Recreation.gov. Fourth-grade students are eligible for a free Christmas tree permit, paying only the $2.50 service fee under the Every Kid Outdoors program. It is important to carefully read the overview and the need-to-know information prior to purchasing the permit. Visitors will need to set up or log in to a Recreation.gov account to complete the secure credit card transaction.
